Heads of state affirm the Joint Declaration of Constitutional Officials on Priorities of the Slovak Republic’s Membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation

We, the top constitutional officials, President of the Slovak Republic, Chairman of the Parliament of the Slovak Republic and Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, affirm the Joint Declaration of Constitutional Officials on Priorities of the Slovak Republic’s Membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, signed on 23 October 2017 in Bratislava.

We met today, because we believe that constructive cooperation and open and substantive communication, free of personal attacks, are the best basis for the responsible politics that citizens of the Slovak Republic expect from us.
We do so in order to lay the foundations for cooperation and coordination of the three top constitutional officials in the exercise of responsible and uniform foreign policy of the Slovak Republic;

in order that we confirm the foreign policy direction, with a view to the Slovak Republic being perceived abroad as a stable and responsible partner;

in order that we confirm our joint responsibility for the foreign policy of the Slovak Republic and give public commitment to act in accordance with this agreement.
