Kamala Harris: The US Is Ready to Help Slovakia Even More

On Wednesday 16 March 2022, President Čaputová spoke by phone with Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States. 

They discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the people who were chased out of their homes and homeland by the war. The vice president expressed her appreciation for the help which Slovakia and our people have provided to Ukrainians and she offered further assistance, including humanitarian and financial aid. She stated that the United States is well aware of the fact that the consequences of Russian aggression are having an existential impact on Slovakia and is prepared to do even more to assist us.  

President Čaputová noted that the telephone call took place on the day when the International Court of Justice in the Haag ordered Russia to immediately cease its military operations in Ukraine. “The decision of the court confirms that Russian aggression in Ukraine, which has already claimed many civilian lives, is inhuman and in direct violation of international law.”
