President awarded European prize for engagement with Roma issues

During President Andrej Kiska’s visit to Brussels on Tuesday, he received the European Civil Rights Prize of the Sinti and Roma. The prize has been awarded since 2008 by the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma to individuals and institutions that have contributed to the protection of the civil rights of Sinti and Roma people.

The president decided to donate the full cash amount of the prize to the civic association Cesta von / Way out, which helps children in excluded Roma communities lift themselves out of poverty.
