​The President will leave for a state visit to Canada next week

President Zuzana Čaputová will leave next week for a state visit to Canada at the invitation of its Governor General Mary Simon. The visit will take place between January 30 and February 1, 2024.

Since the last time a similar visit of the Slovak head of state to Canada took place more than 20 years ago, the main topic of the visit will be strengthening of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between our countries.

During the visit, the President will be accompanied by a substantial business delegation consisting of representatives from companies involved in green transformation, sustainable energy and digital technologies.

With the Governor General, the President will also discuss issues related to solving the climate crisis, the rule of law, women's empowerment and increasing online security. The President will also discuss cooperation in the field of security, as Slovak and Canadian soldiers operate together in the multinational NATO battle group in Latvia.

In Ottawa, the President will also meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Later she will visit Toronto to open a joint Slovak-Canadian business forum and to meet with Slovak compatriots. After the visit to Canada, the President's program will continue with a working trip to the USA. The President´s return to Slovakia is expected on Monday, February 5.
