President Spoke with Commissioner Breton about the Production of Vaccines in Slovakia

On Wednesday 10 February 2021, President Zuzana Čaputová had a telephone call with Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market in connection with the production of vaccines in Slovakia.

One of the tasks of Commissioner Breton is to help increase production capacities of vaccines in Europe. The president informed him that Slovakia is interested in working on the EU’s vaccine self-sufficiency.

"The commissioner welcome the information on production capacities available in Slovakia and stated that the European Commission can help with their utilization.  Therefore, I asked the minister of health to provide the commissioner with more details. I was also interested in the possibility of the European Commission financially assisting with the necessary modernization of our laboratories. The commissioner confirmed the availability of such resources.

President Čaputová has informed the prime minister, who is also involved in the issue of vaccine production, about the possibility of assistance from the European Commission. She believes that we need to use all of our resources and efforts to achieve this important common goal.
