President sends congratulatory letter to Miloš Zeman on the anniversary of the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic

President Čaputová sent a congratulatory letter to Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic on the occasion of the 103th anniversary of the creation of the first Czechoslovak Republic and the state holiday.

In her letter, the president stated that the creation of a joint state of Czechs and Slovaks in 1918 was a crucial event in the existence of our nations.  “Although our paths parted peacefully after several decades, today both independent republics jointly commemorate the 28th of October as an outstanding milestone in our history. The Czech Republic is the closest country for most Slovaks in terms of geography and relationships.”

According to the president, the relations between the Slovak and Czech Republics are long-term evidence of the importance of knowing how to come together and cooperate in complicated times.  In connection with the pandemic and its consequences, the president expressed the hope that thanks to our close relationships and willingness to help each other over the years, both countries will successfully overcome the challenges of the upcoming period.
In conclusion, she again wished President Miloš Zeman a speedy recovery and a return to strength as well as the health, prosperity and success of all citizens of the Czech Republic.
