The Presidential Palace Switches off the Lights and Joins Earth Hour

The Office of the President of the Slovak Republic joined the Earth Hour global initiative on Saturday, 27 March 2021.

The lights at the Presidential Palace were switched off for an hour at 8:30 p.m. Earth Hour acknowledges the joint efforts of the world to protect our planet and climate. This year’s campaign focused on applying pressure to adopt specific and ambitious commitments up to the year 2030 at the UN Conference on Biodiversity which will be held in October in China.

This year, Earth Hour was also supported by UN Secretary General António Guterres, who commented that world leaders can adopt global commitments crucial for the environmental protection.

The Office of the President of the Slovak Republicstrives to be an inspiration in this approach in keeping with President Čaputová’s announcement last year that the president’s office intends to become the first carbon-neutral public institution in Slovakia by 2030.
