Small Dining Room

The Small Dining Room is used for private meetings of the President of the Slovak Republic with 4 to 6 people. It is located on the ground floor of the palace and decorated in the style of the period from the second half of the 18th century to the late 19th century. One of the room’s most striking features is a tall mirror with a richly decorated gilded frame which hangs between the windows. It is in a late Rococo style that was especially popular towards the end of the 19th century and emphasised elegance, fine lines and aesthetic details.

It is complemented by a carved sideboard from the same period and together they enhance the historical authenticity of the room.

Small Dining Room

The dining room is also home to a unique work of art – a Romantic painting on glass from the second half of the 18th century, probably made in Austria, with an amalgam mirror layer around a central pastoral scene. It is accompanied by other Romantic pictures from the 19th century from the collection of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic. This room gives a small insight into the parts of the Presidential Palace intended for the personal use of the head of state.
